What is Trokae

Trokae is a B2B digital barter platform for micro businesses, freelancers and sole proprietors in Brazil and Paraguay. Instead of paying for services with money, you issue a voucher for what your business delivers — and receive vouchers from other businesses. Each party redeems when needed.

Why this solves a real problem

Gaps in the schedule, empty tables, idle hours — they become a voucher that another business accepts. You preserve cash and move capacity that would otherwise sit idle.

What is a Trokae voucher

A Trokae voucher is the digital representation of a contractual service promise. You issue a voucher for what your business can deliver (1 voucher = 1 unit of local currency in your service). When someone presents the voucher, you provide the service and the voucher is settled.

Legal basis

Legally, it is a nominative service voucher — exactly like a physical gift card. It fits within the Consumer Protection Code (Brazil, art. 533) and Law 1334/98 (Paraguay). It is not currency, not a payment method, not a security.

Key characteristics

  • Each business issues its own voucher, with a 3-4 letter symbol (e.g. ARQ, CLINIK)
  • Vouchers have a value in local currency (R$ or Gs.) and a 12-month validity
  • Transferable between platform users — whoever holds it, redeems it
  • Expired vouchers cannot be transferred or redeemed

How barter works, in 5 steps

  5. 5Redeem when you need it. You present the voucher, they provide the service — and vice versa.

How to create my account

💡 If you were referred by someone, make sure their referral link is active on your registration. When you complete KYC, the person who referred you gets 1 free month of the Silver plan.

How to register my business

  1. 1Login → Dashboard → "Register my business"
  2. 2Fill in: business name, CNPJ/CPF (BR) or RUC (PY), phone, address
  3. 3Upload a photo and banner (optional, improves discoverability in Explore)
  4. 4Wait for KYC validation — usually 1-2 business days

How to issue vouchers

How much does it cost to issue a voucher?

Nothing. Issuance is free on all plans — Free, Silver, Gold and Diamond. Trokae does not charge a % per transaction.

Monthly capacity

Each plan has a monthly capacity for issuance + third-party transfers, pooled together. When you reach the limit, the system blocks until the next month or suggests upgrading your plan.

  • Free: up to 500 vouchers/month (issuance + third-party transfers)
  • Silver: up to 2,500 vouchers/month
  • Gold: up to 5,000 vouchers/month
  • Diamond: unlimited
⚠️ For anti-leverage security, each individual voucher's value respects the limit per document (CNPJ/CPF/RUC) registered in your KYC. Details on the support page.

How to transfer and redeem

Transfer a voucher from your business

💡 Transferring a voucher from your own business is free on all plans and does NOT count toward your monthly capacity.

Forward a voucher received from another business

You received a voucher in a barter and want to pass it to someone else. The operation is free on all plans, but it counts toward your plan's monthly capacity.

Receive and settle a voucher

  1. 1The client or partner presents the voucher's 6-digit code
  2. 2Dashboard → "Receive redemption" → enter the code
  3. 3The voucher is settled instantly; you provide the service

Plans and monthly capacity

Signing up is free. Issuing vouchers is free. Transferring is free. Your subscription unlocks more monthly issuance and transfer capacity — it does not buy a discount, because there is no fee to discount.

How capacity is counted

Each issued voucher counts as 1. Each third-party voucher you forward also counts as 1. Vouchers from your own business that you transfer do not count. The counter resets on the 1st of every month.

Upgrading or downgrading

You upgrade via Stripe anytime, and the charge is prorated. You can downgrade or cancel at any time — you keep what you paid for until the end of the cycle.

How to refer friends

💡 You can accumulate bonuses by referring multiple people. Limit: up to 6 accumulated months per year (anti-fraud). Above that, it goes to manual review.
⚠️ The bonus is only credited when the referred person completes KYC. A referral stuck in PENDING does not count.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a fee per barter?

No. Voucher issuance and transfer are free on all plans — Free, Silver, Gold and Diamond. Trokae does not charge a % per transaction.

Then why pay for a plan?

To get more monthly issuance and transfer capacity. The Free plan gives 500 vouchers/month — enough to get started. Those who operate more upgrade to Silver (2,500), Gold (5,000) or Diamond (unlimited).

How do I get paid when someone uses my voucher?

You do not receive money. You receive another business's voucher in exchange — and redeem it when you need their service. It is direct barter: service for service.

Is it legal?

Yes. A Trokae voucher is a nominative digital service voucher, within the Consumer Protection Code (Brazil, art. 533) and Law 1334/98 (Paraguay). It is not currency, not a payment method, not a security.

Can I barter with a business from the other country?

Yes. Brazil and Paraguay are one single platform. Values appear in R$ or Gs. depending on the voucher issuer. Automatic R$↔Gs. conversion is blocked in the MVP — each side redeems in the original currency.

Do vouchers expire?

Yes, 12 months from issuance. After that, they expire automatically and cannot be transferred or redeemed. You are notified 30, 7 and 1 day before expiration.

What if the business that issued the voucher closes?

Same situation as any gift card: the holder has the right to claim the corresponding value from the issuer, as assignee of the credit. That is why every business goes through KYC before being able to issue.

Can individuals use it?

Yes. You can register as an individual (with CPF) or as a business (MEI, EI, LTDA, EU, SRL with CNPJ/RUC). In both cases, issuance and transfer are free.

How does Trokae make money?

Only through monthly/annual subscriptions on paid plans (Silver, Gold, Diamond). We do not charge a % on issuance, transfer or redemption. The model is pure SaaS.

Can I cancel my plan anytime?

Yes, directly through Stripe or via Dashboard → Plan → Cancel. You keep the benefits until the end of the already-paid cycle. No lock-in.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Trokae runs in the browser. You can install it as a PWA for a home screen icon, but it is optional.

Can I have more than one business on the same account?

Yes. Each user can own multiple businesses, each with its own voucher and KYC. Monthly capacity is per business.
